I had the pleasure of working with this family before my maternity leave. They were on an extended trip abroad at the time so my support was all done online.

This little lady took over an hour to go to bed on a night (after lots of rocking) at bedtime and through the night. She was also doing very short naps.

Her parents followed the plan I wrote very closely and this paid off as babes sleep improved very quickly. Long naps and a much quicker time falling asleep (independently) happened within the first days.

I actually bumped into mum this week (IRL!) and baby is still sleeping amazingly! She has recently started daycare where her naps have remained great, making it a much smoother process for her ❤️

Bath time.

A bath is a really lovely way to start a bedtime routine. It is a great cue and can help little ones to distinguish day from night.

An ideal bedtime routine to follow the bath is:

* Brush teeth
* Massage
* Nappy and pjs
* Read a book
* Song and cuddle
* Into bed awake

It is important to stay consistent with your routine, keep it the same every night to help your little one get ready for bed.

In this 90 minute session on Wednesday 15th June I will share the 7 most important sleep tips to creating healthy sleep for your child. Plus you'll get an opportunity to share any challenges you are currently struggling with and I will give you some advice on what you can do to help.

The class on Wednesday 22nd June is for expectant parents and those with babies up to 3 months old, who want to set up great sleep habits from the start! During this session, I will explain the importance of sleep and provide you with the tools you need to establish good sleep habits from the start of life.

This was their second child and after having a tough time with their first daughter’s sleep for a long time Mum decided she needed to take action in order to make things better second time around. This little lady didn’t nap well and woke several times during the night. Newborn sleep and the 4 month regression.

Iggy is now 4 months old and we are out of the newborn sleep phase.

He falls asleep completely independently as I started practising putting him down awake from around 8 weeks. I also made sure the environment was appropriate for him and gave him the opportunity to sleep at the right times.
Until recently he was waking once a night to feed, however now he is in the 4 month regression so he is waking mostly 2 or sometimes 3 times a night at the moment. This is because his sleep structure is changing and he now experiences light sleep phases during his sleep cycle. The reason he isn’t waking every hour (like some babies at this time) is because he can fall asleep independently.

So this guy hasn’t slept on me for a month. We did a feed 15 minutes after his lunchtime nap and he fell right back to sleep 🤦🏻‍♀️ He has been feeding a lot this last 2 days so I think he might be having a growth spurt.

This little guy is almost 2 months old so I thought it was time to check in and let you know how we’re doing!

I can’t believe how quickly time is going this time around. The days and weeks are flying by and I can’t believe he is almost 2 months!

We are doing well, as you can see from the picture he has recently started giving us some beautiful smiles 💙 He is very alert and interested in everything around him and it is so amazing watching him grow day by day.

Luckily feeding is going great. Especially after my difficulties feeding O I feel so grateful this time around that feeding has been pretty straightforward since day 1 and the little guy is growing really well.

For those wondering O is doing good too. He adores his new baby brother, he just gets frustrated sometimes when he can’t have his Mama as much as he used to and this is really showing in his behaviour sometimes. It seems to be getting better over time but I must admit I’m feeling ALL the Mama guilt about it. If I’m honest this is definitely the part I am finding the most challenging. It is so hard to try and give him enough of me when his baby brother needs me so much.

And finally sleep! He was doing really well and at 6.5 weeks he was starting to go into his crib to fall asleep himself for some of his naps and bedtime. This was done very gently and with no tears at all. I will do a post on this soon to explain how I did it.
However this week we are having some sleep challenges. There is a sleep regression at 8 weeks and the little guy has been refusing naps and then doing very short ones. Resulting in a very overtired baby. Due to his age I have been doing some more contact naps and on the go naps this past few days. Then once this phase has passed I will go back to putting him in his crib for his naps.

I am starting to think about work so will be posting a little bit more over the next weeks. I am also writing a blog post about how sleep has been this past few months.

Meet our latest addition 💙

This little guy came into the world very quickly on 13th January!

We are both doing really well. He is feeding and sleeping like a champ and Mama is completely besotted and enjoying every minute.

O is just loving him but is having to adjust to our new family dynamic.

Happy New Year to all of my lovely followers! Thank you for following me throughout this year.

2022 has definitely had its highs and lows.

It has been the year I started my business and I am enjoying it so much ❤️ My clients have been incredible and I have enjoyed working with them very much. Looking forward to picking back up in a few months time.

O started school this year and since then we have seen him grow up so much. He loves school and his Dutch has come on so much. He is much more confident speaking it and is also helping us with our ours 😂

We became pregnant this year for the second time and even though it has been an incredibly challenging pregnancy with complications we are very much looking forward to meeting our second little boy in the next few weeks 💙

The toughest thing about this year was another year away from family. Luckily we managed to get home in October for a few weeks to catch up with them and our friends in the UK, the first time we had seen them in almost 2 years. Really hoping that won’t be the case again and that we can get back in a few months with the baby 🤞🏼

I will be very quiet on here for the coming months but I will occasionally come on to share some baby pictures and updates on how we are doing 💙 I’ll be back sharing sleep tips as soon as I can.

Newborn tips! I wish I knew 4.5 years ago what I

Newborn tips!

I wish I knew 4.5 years ago what I know now. I will be doing things very different this time around with baby number 2.

So I thought I would share these things with you:

💤 I will follow a ‘Wake - Feed - Play - Sleep’ schedule. Meaning I will feed baby after a nap rather than before. This helps to encourage fuller feeds and reduces the chance of baby falling asleep whilst feeding (creating a sleep prop that I do not want).

💤 Putting my baby down for a nap after 45-60 minutes of awake time. This is all a newborn can handle in the early weeks.

💤 Encouraging independent sleep when I can. This is not to say I won’t be doing any contact naps or naps in the stroller/carrier. I will just try and also have some in the baby’s sleeping space.

💤 Having a consistent bedtime routine where things will be the same every night (including order and timings).

💤 Having a naptime routine. Even just 4-5 minutes before every nap to help baby know that’s sleep is coming.

💤 Simple decor in the bedroom - no mobile over the cot.

💤 Use white noise (we will use the Hatch Rest).

I will also of course be keeping you all up to date with how things are going 😊

I wanted to say a huge thank you to my clients that I have worked with this year. For putting your trust in me and allowing me to help you all to become more rested!

The first year of my business has been incredible and I have enjoyed working with all of my clients very much ❤️

I love my job and having the chance to help families to become happier and healthier through better sleep. I personally know how tough sleep deprivation is and what a difference it makes when you finally get some good quality sleep and rest.

I will be taking my maternity leave shortly and then I will start taking new clients from April 2022. In the meantime I will occasionally be posting here about our life with a newborn!

So every year from the 1st December we give O one Christmas book per day. (I put it on his bed ready for bedtime). I use the same books every year (maybe adding one or two new ones). He absolutely loves it and is so excited to go to bed each evening to see which book he has to read that night 💙

This review is from a client I worked with that had an 18 month old daughter. When we started together Mum had to be in the room for hours at night for her daughter to fall asleep. She also woke many times at night and Mum had to be with her for hours during the night whilst she felt back to sleep.
